Pelicans #3, 4& 5 so why so many pelicans?
When the fish go deep to escape the cold weather, the pelicans can’t dive down to reach them and wind up going hungry. The longer the cold snap lasts, the less food they get to eat, and the inexperienced juveniles are the first to suffer badly and not make it. We already have 3 adults and 1 juvenile brought in that show signs of frostbite in their pouches from the cold, and are very thin and weak. We warm them up, give them medicine…
